After a decade of battling in the Crusades, a knight challenges Death to a fateful game of chess. More than forty years after its initial release, Ingmar Bergman's stunning allegory of man's apocalyptic search for meaning remains a textbook on the art of filmmaking and an essential building block in any collection. Criterion is proud to present The Seventh Seal in a pristine new transfer.

What better way to escape from the onslaught of so-called reality television than to sail away with Richard Chamberlain to "the Japans" for a little samurai action and some discreet "pillowing"? From the golden age of the miniseries comes this television benchmark, the 10-hour, Golden Globe-winning saga based on James Clavell's bestselling epic. In his award-winning performance, Chamberlain stars as John Blackthorne, the 17th-century English navigator on a Dutch trading ship. A storm runs the ship aground off the coast of Japan, a "torn and cruelly divided country" locked in a power struggle between Toranaga (the venerable Toshiro Mifune) and Ishido, two warlords who would be Shogun. Blackthorne gets over his initial culture shock ("I piss on you and your country," he defiantly proclaims to his samurai captors, which to his humiliation turns out to be an unfortunate choice of words) to become a trusted ally of Toranaga and the lover of the beautiful interpreter Lady Mariko (Yoko Shimada). Their forbidden, ill-fated romance--and Blackthorne's total assimilation into Japanese culture--is set against political intrigue as Toranaga prepares for the inevitable showdown with Ishido, and Blackthorne's growing influence threatens the local Jesuits who had built up a lucrative trade monopoly. Shogun was a production blessed with good karma, and it remains an awesome achievement from a bygone era when the miniseries was king. --Donald Liebenson

Wow! I really loved the movie Limelight. The movie is absolutely stunning with top-notch graphics and visuals while Marjorie Bennett deliver some award-winning performances in this movie.
I also think Barry Bernard was great! The visuals and graphics make for some very realistic on screen special-effects but that is the beauty of the movie. When the movie wants to be funny it is funny, the same is true for when the movie needs to deliver its scary aspects.
I think Marjorie Bennett and Barry Bernard worked wonderful in Limelight. The great supporting cast includes Marjorie Bennett, Barry Bernard, Claire Bloom, Nigel Bruce, Josephine Chaplin.
You should see it, make no mistake this is a definite blockbuster!

I left some information, immages, and video previews of Limelight below.
Leading lady Claire Bloom called it a "fairy godfather" story. Historians said it was frankly autobiographical. Charlie Chaplin knew it as a love story. Chaplin plays Calvero, a vaudeville clown whom time has passed by in 1914 London. Although under few illusions about his own prospects for the future, he is able to impart his passion for life to Terry (Bloom), a young ballerina who believes she is paralyzed and can no longer dance. Calvero alternately nurses and bullies her to recovery and subsequent success as a prima ballerina. From this position, she is able to help Calvero enjoy one last triumphant moment just as he suffers a fatal heart attack. As his life is ebbing, hers is flowing in a brilliant solo ballet that ends the film.
In a town without law, only a man of innate courage can bring back peace and freedom to its terrorized citizens: Tony Landon (Fernando Almada). After the death of his brother by a band of outlaws, Tony returns to find his brother's killer and avenge his death. While on this grave mission he finds Mrs. Larsen (Sasha Montenegro), his only ray of sunshine as he approaches the door to hell!
